Why ingress protection matters
Ingress seals and flameproof joints serve different functions. Damaged seals can permit dust or water ingress; inspect the complete assembly and follow the manufacturer's instructions for both seals and controlled joints.
The minimum for harsh environments
Specify the ingress-protection rating from the actual exposure, cleaning regime and project requirements. Verify it separately from the complete Ex marking and supporting product certificate.
